How we make money

Focal & Frame is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate program that lets sites earn referral fees by featuring and linking to products on Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.When you click a buy link on this site and purchase something, Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale. It costs you nothing extra — the price is exactly the same as if you'd gone to Amazon directly.

What a commission does not do

It does not decide our rankings. Commission rates vary between products, and we have never once let a higher rate move a product up a list. That is why you'll routinely find cheaper picks — which pay us less — ranked above expensive ones on this site. If the $99 lens is the right first buy, we say so, even though the $1,500 lens would pay us far more.

No brand pays us for placement or coverage. No manufacturer sends us free products. No one outside Focal & Frame sees or approves our copy before it is published.

Links we don't earn from

Sometimes the best thing for you is a link we earn nothing from — a manufacturer's own store, or a retailer we have no relationship with. We link those anyway, and where a link is non-earning we don't dress it up as anything else. The recommendation always comes first.

Prices and availability

Every price shown on this site is pulled live from Amazon's API and stamped with the date we fetched it. Prices and availability change constantly; the figure at checkout on Amazon is always the authoritative one. If our price data is stale, we hide the number rather than show you an outdated one.
